Hayabusa vs. Griff - Response 2

ext. Arid Plain – mid-day

GRIFFINGTON, hands open, points to the ground. Dust and dirt swirl before his feet, kick up and EXPLODE in a shower of earthen debris.

Wind BUFFETS HAYABUSA as he falls. He crosses his arms, fending off first small particles of dirt, then stones, then a large mass that CRASHES into him and SKIPS him across the ground. GROANING as he rises, he looks down at his hand.

Drying blood, caked with dust, coats his palm.

Hayabusa’s eyes harden, even as he clutches his chest and BREATHES laboriously. A sheet of rock careens through the air at him, but he CUTS it in twain with his katana and DASHES between the halves, ground SPLITTING open in his wake as he ducks, hurdles and weaves between incoming debris.

Hayabusa (V.O.)

Griff, I hope that this finds you well.

As a boulder is about to collide with him, Hayabusa disappears, but the ground continues to CRACK and rise up, only now there are three such wakes, each approaching Griffington from a different angle.

hayabusa (Cont.)

I am no longer in complete control of my actions. Only the vaguest notion of my will is entertained by my body.

Three ninja, each garbed in the same earth-soiled raiment as Hayabusa, BURST from their trails and take to the air, closing in on Griffington with arms cocked back, poised to attack.

Hayabusa (Cont.)

I ask that you do what you must. Watashi wo koroshite onegai shimasu.

They fall in on Griffington, passing through him harmlessly and fading into immediate non-existence. Fire SCREAMS into being before Griffington as Hayabusa APPEARS with his leg already extended high in a fire-wreathed kick at Griffington’s chin. The force of his very entrance STOPS the buffeting winds, as SILENCE overtakes the plain once more.

HAYabusa (CONT.)

Griff, anata wo natsukashimasu. Sayonara.
